It is known as “Coca-Cola” route, Marangu approaches Kilimanjaro from the southeast of the Mountain. It is the oldest established route. Many favor the Marangu route because it is considered to be the easiest route on the mountain.
The minimum days required for this route is five, although the probability of successfully reaching the top in that time is a bit low. Spending an extra acclimatization day on the mountain is highly recommended, maximizing the chance of reaching to the summit. Marangu is the only route which offers sleeping huts in dormitory style accommodations.

6 Days Marangu Route
The Marangu route is also referred to as the “Coca-Cola” route, as it is considered to be the easiest path on the mountain, given its gradual slope and direct path. It is the oldest and the most well-established route on the Kilimanjaro. This is the only route which offers sleeping huts in dormitory style. Guests are supplied with mattresses and pillows, but sleeping bags are still required. The huts have communal dining halls, basic washrooms and toilet. Short time frame of the route makes altitude acclimatization fairly difficult. The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the southeast. Marangu is unfortunately less scenic than the other routes because the ascent and descent are along the same path. It is also the most crowded route for that reason.

Route duration: Six days. Total hiking distance: Approximately 96 kms (excludes acclimatization hikes on day three) Affectionately known as the “Coca-Cola route”, Marangu Route is by far the most popular route to the summit of Kilimanjaro. This could partly be as a result of the fact that the Marangu is the least expensive route.

Day 1: Moshi City- Mandara Hut
Morning briefing on the hike at Moshi City and a check on your trekking gear. You are then picked up and transferred to the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park's Marangu Gate and commence the Trek. Overnight at Mandara Hut. ( 2,743 metres). Full board
The Marangu route is known as the ‘Coca-Cola’ route. It is the most popular route to trek Mount Kilimanjaro.It is the only non-camping route and here trekkers sleep in dormitory- like huts. It is mistakably considered the easiest route due to its reputation and is often selected by many unprepared and inexperienced trekkers; ensuring only a meager 35% of the climbers using this route make it to the summit, the Uhuru Peak.In terms of scenery, Marangu route has breathtaking views of the tropical rain forest, Mawenzi Peak, the landscapes below and the vista from the summit. This route is ideal for those who are not confident of their hiking abilities, who do not like to hike over stepper paths and are not comfortable sleeping under a tent. .
Day 2: Mandara to Horombo Hut
For most of this day the climb passes through the forest. Your base today is the Horombo Hut @ 3759 metres above sea level. Full board
Day 3: Horombo Hut
Spend this day on acclimatisation. You may undertake a 3 hour trek towards the Mawenzi Hut. Overnight at the Horombo Hut. Full board
Day 4: Horombo- Saddle- Kibo Hut
Breakfast. Trek onto the Alpine Desert habitat and to the Saddle of Mount Kilimanjaro. Your night accommodation here is at Kibo Hut and you rest till midnight ( 4,730 metres)
Day 5: Kibo Hut- Gillman's Point- Uhuru Peak- Horombo Hut
Commence the midnight trek to the summit of Africa, The Uhuru Peak of Mount Kilimanjaro. You trek for 14 hours today; via the Gillman’s Point (5678 metres) to watch the sunrise, and onto the at the Uhuru Peak (5895 metres above sea level), a memorable experience. Commence the descent and return to the Kibo Hut for breakfast and some rest. Continue the descent to the Horombo Hut for overnight. Full board
Day 6: Horombo to Moshi Town
Breakfast. Continue to the Marangu Gate and are met by our vehicle for the transfer back to the, Moshi Town and are dropped off. Breakfast
