Day 1: Kigali- Bwindi Southern Sector
Arrival at the Kigali International Airport in the morning. You are met by our representative, outside the airport arrivals section. You have a briefing on your upcoming holiday and embark on the 5 hour drive North through the Cyanika Rwanda/Uganda Border Point and onto the Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge. It is located in the Southern sector of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park ..Diinner and overnight at the Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge. Full board
Day 2: Bwindi Gorilla Trekking
Early breakfast at your lodge. 0600 hrs: Transfer to the National Park HQs for registration of your gorilla trekking. 0700 hrs: Briefing by your trackers, then drive to the trail head for the start of your amazing gorilla trekking adventure.
You may hire porters here for the trek to carry your backpack and gear. This service is recommended, especially for the elderly members of the society,or during the wet weather - as they will also assist by holding your hand to ease the walking.
Your trek starts in the cultivated villages offering nice views in all directions. Weaving through overhanging vines, moss-covered hagenia trees and giant lobelias that thrive in the tropical climate, our experienced trackers, who have spent their entire lives in or close to this forest, soon bring us up close with one of the Gorilla Families. Upon sighting the gorillas, you will stay with them for a magical one-hour as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting; raising their young. Coming face to face with a giant silverback must truly be one of the greatest wildlife experiences on earth!
After the trek, rejoin your driver-guide & transfer back to the Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge for freshening up and lunch. Later, you may take an optional visit to a Pygmy village and pay on the ground. Dinner and overnight at the Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge. Full board
Day 3: Bwindi- Kigali
Breakfast at the Lodge. Soon thereafter, embark on the drive back to Kigali City. Lunch at the City. Take the afternoon tour of Kigali City with a visit to the Genocide memorial museum. In good time, you are picked up and transferred to the Airport for your outbound flight. Breakfast & lunch
