4 Am: Start the ascent of Batian Peak ( 5,199 metres) using the North Face standard route. You climb the first couple of pitches by headlamp. The route initially follows a wide couloir, which you ascend for about 7 pitches, never harder than 5.7. A bit of easy scrambling brings us to the Amphitheatre, a small basin of easy rock part way up the route. You have a short break here.
Above this is the crux of the route, Firmin's Tower. There are about 3 difficult pitches, all fairly short, but all in V grade. Above this, easier terrain leads to a few more pitches and finally the west ridge. From this point we continue on easy but still exposed rock to Shipton's Notch, a prominent gash in the Summit ridge. Another pitch, then mixed 4th and easy 5th class rock leads to the airly summit of Batian, congratulations for the achievement. You then descend using the same route, hopefully reaching at the Shiptons Camp before darkness in time for dinner and overnight. Full board
Breakfast. Descend via the Simba Col and Mackinders Valley. Today's trek is about 6 hours. This descent is gentle and offers ample time to enjoy the fascinating scenery which includes moorlands. Arrival at Old Moses Camp ( 3,300 metres). Dinner and overnight at the Old Moses Camp. Full board
Breakfast. Take a 3 hour trek to the Sirimon Gate of Mount Kenya. It is here that you link up with your transfer vehicle for the drive back to Nairobi to arrive in the late afternoon and are dropped off. Breakfast and lunch
